About Earth Kids

Earth Kids offer nature-based education that provides an encouraging, supportive approach to learning.

We are based in the heart of East Sussex and have been running fun, exciting events and programmes since 2012 for primary age children. Members within our organisation are qualified, dedicated and work with passion and professionalism. We are fully insured, qualified outdoor first aiders and have current CRB/DBS certificates.

We are now directing our focus on taking our programmes into schools. The children will learn wonderful life skills, experiencing their school outdoor environment in new exciting ways. We are able to work collaboratively with teachers, linking our ideas with the current curriculum subjects that the pupils will be learning within the classroom from Foundation level to Key Stage 2 to aim at enhancing and extending their education.

Our Earth Kids sessions are linked to many areas of the curriculum such as; science, history, PSHE and maths. They include themed programmes, following the cycles of the seasons and highlight environmental awareness through games and activities.

Examples of our activities are:

  • Nature identification
  • Woodcraft
  • Using tools, a Bow Saw, Brace Drill, Laplander and other craft materials
  • Wild Nature Art
  • Shelter Building, and Animal Shelter Building
  • Fire lighting and building
  • Campfire Cooking
  • Creative Play, including imaginary play

Within our sessions we always include opportunities for circle reflective time where every child can discuss, reflect and share with the group their experiences of the day. Their thoughts are hugely valued and their own experience is significant for their personal progression and confidence.

As parents ourselves we understand the importance of every child's learning journey and believe that every child should feel encouraged to become engaged in and have responsibility for their learning.
